The loss of BRICKTRAK was a big one to the LDraw community. Currenlty there are three options.

  1) If you still have the BRICKTRAK installer (from 2002) you can install it and it will work **PROVIDED** you first reset your system clock to Jan 01 2002.

  2) Give BrickStore a try
http://www.brickforge.de/software/brickstore/index.en.html
While it is similar to BRICKTRAK is was designed with LEGO part sellers in mind more than LEGO builders, so the features that you may be use to in BRICKTRAK (loading an ldraw file and getting a list of stores that sell your parts, list of stores that sell most of your parts, etc...) is lacking. You can use BrickStore in conjuntion with the "Wanted List" of brickshelf.com to get some of the functionallity of BIRCKTRAK but it is limited still.

  3) You can try LEGO DIGITAL DESIGNER (LDD) from http://factory.lego.com/ which allows you to create a model, upload it to LEGO, and then buy the model! I have not played around with this sofware yet but have been told that only a limited amount of parts are avaliable via the LDD software. For example you won't be able to cerate a "model" of say 100 stormtroppers to upload and then buy. LDD can convert itself to the LDraw format. Not sure if you can go the other way around.

            Hi,

It's been almost a few years since I've had time to real world build any of the CAD models I've made. I figured it was time to get crackin' but have run into a snag. Previously I had used BRICKTRAK to covert .mpd files to .xml for easy Bricklink part searches. It seems that BRICKTRAK is no longer supported and is now useless for this task. I'm wondering if there are any other programs out there that do the same thing. I'd like to find a program that would do this and also let me edit the want list (change colors ect) after it's made.

  Thanks for any help,
  Chris.
