Hello I hope you can help me. I am the new fine arts director at a very poor school avg income is less than $14k. I am trying to bring things to my students that they might never be able to experience. We already use legos in the art room ( I purchased out of my pockets). The kids love Legos and building!
I have a vision of a 4 foot tall Lego eagle(our school mascot) made out of royal blocks white head and yellow beak and tallons. I am currently writing grants to procure the funding. Could L draw take a drawing and make it into the masterplan for exact blocks we would need to make this sculpture?
My family recently visited Walt Disney World and I saw the huge Lego sculpture there. My boys were facinated and that inspired my Eagle for our school of 700+ kids k-5th grade. What a great benefit it would be for the kids to work on a large build and what a fun addition the sculpture would be to our school. ( it is OLD and needs sprucing up)
I wrote to Lego and they said they did not fund this sort of thing but I have now found an engineering firm with a $2000.00 grant that I think this project will appeal to- I just need to get realistic about what kind of numbers on the bricks. Would I have a wood under eagle and then build with bricks around or should the sculpture be pure bricks? Do you know others I might talk to and also other possible funding avenues. Thanks - Susan Bishara
