Thank you for talking in interest in our (you as a LEGO fan included in that OUR) software.

Parts are created by volunteers whenever they have time. LDraw.org (the organization) has no control over what parts are created. Typically someone in the community sees a part that is missing and take on the challenge of making it or we have some authors that listen to the request of the community and come up with missing parts.

Here is a list of tutorials to get you started on making parts:

A list of "parts being worked on" can be found here:
http://www.ldraw.org/Article14.html

Also please read why their has been a lack of parts update here:
http://www.ldraw.org/Topic26.html

Lastly many parts authors talk about what they will be working on next, challenges, etc here:

Dear LDraw community,
i just stumbled upon this project yesterday and i have to say i am amazed. I have been looking for projects like this for a long time.
Like every boy i always loved LEGO and since i make my own money now i am able to get all those models i like.
But being able to to build something on the computer with every imaginable part is really something i always dreamed about.
Sadly i had to notice that there are a lot of parts missing in the official releases. I would love to know if there is any way i could help to speed up that process.
I'm a 24yr old software developer from Germany and i work on entertainment projects for a living and do a lot of 3d programming in my free time.
If i could be of any use, don't hesitate to ask :)

ps: I like how every part is only a mesh with no hard-coded color information. But on the other hand, LEGO parts are color-coded for a reason. And i am having a hard time finding the correct piece some times (i work mostly with Technic parts). Are there any pointers you can give me?

Thanks in advance

Oliver
