How do I download & install LDraw?

I really would like to give LDraw a try, but how?  The download information doesn't make sense to me.  What exactly do I need to download in order to use LDraw?  I understand that I need to have a library of parts, but how do I download them to install?

It would help me out a lot if you could explain the following:

1. What do I need to download?
2. In what order should I download them?
3. How to install the downloads?
4. How to run the program when it's installed?
5. How & when to get updates?

Please let me know as soon as possible.
